Meet the Therapist

I am Menelaos Voutsinas, Mental Health Counsellor and Trainee Synthetic Psychotherapist. I am registered with the Greek Counselling Society, as well as the European Association of Counselling (E.A.C.). The Synthetic model in which I train involves Systemic, Existential and Multicultural therapy.

Professional Experience

I have worked extensively with the addicted population, for a number of years, in an addiction support centre, with a therapeutic model based on the 12 Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous, where I covered individual and group counselling needs. I gained experience through other collaborations with treatment centers by having, in addition to therapeutic, administrative duties. I have also participated in an extensive number of seminars (CBT, Child CBT, 18 Plus, Yalom’s Group Therapy Model, Psychopathology, Adult Education, Developmental and Social Psychology, Hearing Voices Network…).

Addiction, beyond the form of drugs or alcohol, can take many forms (co-dependence, internet, porn, food) in all our lives, at different times. In addition to addiction, I work with anxiety disorders, borderline disorder, phobias, grief, anger management, couples and family counseling, as well as family addiction counseling and intervention plan structuring.

Personal Philosophy

Through my years of working in mental health, I have found that it takes love for imperfect and hurting human aspects, and the belief that change through CO-ACT is possible. My journey in personal healing, the courage of soul-laying, progressively increasing honesty, and shedding the mixture of guilt and shame have removed a burden from my soul. This experience can be offered to anyone who wishes to work therapeutically and evolve in the healing room.

Volunteering

As an active professional in the field of mental health, I dedicate my time and effort by participating in various volunteer initiatives, aiming to support vulnerable social groups and solidarity. Through these activities, I not only contribute to society but also enrich my knowledge and skills.

Indicatively, some of my actions:

• Provision of mental health services at the Social Clinic of Exarcheia.
• Member of Human Links, participation in the activities of the organization and production of a web radio show entitled “Sound and Sharing”.
